An Apartment, Vacation Rental, and Retreat on Oahu

Heavenly Valley
On a private residential street this peaceful subdivision with 11 Hawaiian designed homes sits adjacent to a wilderness area. Waiomao Stream runs in back of the subdivision next to an ancient taro field and below the majestic Koolau Mountains and one of the tallest peaks in the range. The house is situated below the main road which surprisingly minimizes traffic noise. The sounds of singing birds and the wind rustling palm leaves are the dominate noises in the subdivision. Our apartment is located on the first floor of our home with its own private entrance.

The dwelling sits a couple hundred feet below a large Buddhist temple which has a large gold leafed Buddha and a beautiful granite one. You can see parts of the temple complex from within the subdivision. The grounds of the temple are very attractive with a commanding view of Honolulu. It is worth a visit.

At the end of the valley you can hike to the top of the Koolaus Mountains. The trail climbs past seven falls whose water comes from the large Kau crater that was the favorite swimming hole of one of the Hawaiian princesses 100 years ago. The hike offers wonderful views of the Koolaus, the city and the ocean.

The retreat is a ten minute drive from the University of Hawaii in Manoa and seven minutes from Chaminade University.
